Nationhost hosting is designed to by secure and compliant. Unfortunately many hosting providers do not take the same approach and many legacy systems follow poor practice and put your data at risk.

As part of our commitment to providing a secure service, we work to ensure our hosting passes PCI (Payment Card Industry) security scans and our operations adhere to the new EU GDPR requirements.

Because you may be migrating from a less secure host, it's possible that some reconfiguration of your services or processes may be required.

This document will cover the most commonly seen issues when moving from a non PCI-compliant host to Nationhost .

Email (SMTP, POP3, IMAP) All connections to email services must be secure.
Unencrypted or 'plaintext' sessions are not supported.
Email Sending (SMTP) When sending email from email clients, via Nationhost , SMTP authentication is required.
FTP FTP requires Explicit Security (FTPES) for all connections.
SSH/SFTP Authentication is only available via key-based auth for security reasons.
Remote MySQL connections Connections to MySQL from anywhere but your hosting must be tunnelled via SSH
TLS 1.2+ Support on all secure connections As mandated by PCI compliance and security best practices, all connections to secure protocols will only be supported over TLS1.2 or greater.

Please note that Nationhost does not support Windows XP for any type of connection
