Typical Router Settings Print

  • 212

We give you the freedom to use your own router. Because there are many different brands and models available, we’re unable to provide step-by-step instructions for every device. However, the information below includes all the settings you’ll need to get connected.

About the Service

This service is delivered over Openreach FTTP (Full Fibre).

An Openreach engineer will:

  • Install a new fibre cable from the network outside

  • Fit an ONT (Optical Network Terminal) inside your premises

The ONT requires a nearby power socket, so please ensure one is available before the installation appointment.

Router Requirements

Your router must have:

  • A dedicated WAN port (sometimes labelled “Internet”)

  • PPPoE support

Most standard “cable” routers available from retailers will be suitable. The faster the service, the faster the router will need to be e.g 2Gbps will need a minimum of 2.5Gbps WAN port.

If you would prefer to purchase a router from us, please contact our support team.

Connecting Your Router

  1. Connect an Ethernet cable from the ONT to the WAN port on your router.

  2. Power on the router and log in to its admin interface.

  3. Navigate to the WAN / Internet connection settings.

  4. Enter the following details:

Setting Value
Username your-username@wncore.co.uk
Password *****
Protocol PPPoE
MTU 1492

Save the settings and allow the router a few minutes to establish a connection.

Once connected, you’re ready to go - enjoy your service!
